Centering Disability Inclusion

Creating workplaces, services, and communities where people belong, participate, and lead. Evidence-informed training, consulting, and co-design turn inclusion from intention into everyday practice.

Why Inclusion Matters

Every person deserves to feel welcome, respected, and able to participate fully, in our communities, workplaces, and the digital spaces we create. My work is grounded in the belief that inclusion isn’t an optional extra; it’s the foundation of dignity, equity, and belonging.

When organisations design with inclusion at the centre, they remove barriers rather than create them. They make it easier for people with disability, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those with different communication or learning needs to access information, contribute their voice, and feel safe.

Through co‑designed training, accessible communication, and practical guidance, I help organisations build cultures where people are seen, valued, and supported. Inclusion strengthens relationships, builds trust, and creates environments where everyone can thrive, not just those who fit the “default”.

Inclusion matters because people matter. And when we design for diversity, we create spaces where everyone belongs.

Services

A quiet reflection corner in an office featuring a comfortable high‑back acoustic chair in deep teal fabric, its sides subtly curved to dampen sound, positioned beside a low ash‑wood table. On the table rests a journal embossed with “Inclusive Leadership,” a noise‑reducing headset, and a small sand timer with fine, pale sand mid‑fall. Behind the chair, a wall decal reads “Listen, Learn, Change” in understated lettering. Warm, late‑afternoon light filters through partially closed blinds, casting gentle linear shadows across the floor and furniture. Photographed at eye level with a slightly off‑center composition in photographic realism, the mood is calm and contemplative, emphasising the emotional and reflective side of culture change in disability inclusion work.

Training Workshops: Empowering teams with practical, engaging training that makes inclusion part of everyday practice.

An organised consulting workspace featuring a large wall‑mounted accessibility roadmap printed on heavyweight matte paper, with clear milestones labeled “Assess,” “Co‑Design,” “Implement,” and “Sustain.” Each phase is marked with coloured icons representing different disability access considerations. Below, a long credenza in pale wood holds neatly stacked reports, a tablet open to a WCAG checklist, and a compact braille embosser mid‑page, its paper showing raised, orderly dots. Soft, indirect studio lighting bathes the scene in an even glow, eliminating harsh shadows. Captured from a slightly oblique angle with moderate depth of field, the photographic realism and restrained, modern aesthetic create a sense of strategic clarity, long‑term planning, and evidence‑based consultancy in action.

Engagement: grounded in lived-experience, respect, cultural safety, and the voices of people most impacted.

Consulting: Strategic consulting to embed accessibility, inclusive policies, and measurable outcomes across programs, services, physical spaces, and digital platforms.

I thoroughly enjoyed both the content and the way Vanessa presented it. I thought she struck a great balance between sharing lived-experience stories and providing current, evidence-based information. The session felt engaging, respectful, and informative throughout.

Fabulous training session. Really in-depth and informative. The real-life examples really helped us understand how to apply the knowledge in scenarios moving forward.

Thanks for organising the training. Vanessa is a pleasant and engaging person and presenter.
